Taking Advantage of Time

Erik's hours are much longer these days so we do our best to take advantage of all our time together as a family. Our time is usually always spent outdoors and luckily we have lots of fun things to do just right out our back gate! Our house backs up to Sonoma High School, so we have a track right out our back gate, outdoor basketball courts to ride bikes, bike paths, playgrounds, and the FFA farm is close by too! Ford LOVES to ride his Strider and he is so good at it! People always stop and ask us how old he is, and can't believe how good he is!

Feeding the cows! I am always so surprised that he has no fear when it comes to animals!

Even Coop likes the cows.......kinda!

I am 31 Months Old!

We just can't believe how much we love this little boy! He seems older to me lately and that feels very bitter sweet! He is busting with personality and keeps Erik and me laughing and shaking our heads all the time! Here are some facts about Ford at 30 months:

*He has a very vivid imagination and loves to pretend that he is some sort of animal and wants us to join in!
*He is such a people person and always captures the attention of strangers with his charm and smile!
*We have kinda started to get him interested in potty training. He wears his big boy Lighting McQueen undies, and will sometimes go poo poo on the potty (if I time it juuuuust right!).
*He is so athletic and very daring especially when he is on his strider!
*He loves going to school and loves his teachers and friends!
*He is wild as ever and never stops talking!!
*He definetly has developed a bit of an attitude! Not sure if it's from going to school or just his age!
*He is so independent and we hear "I do it!" and "My turn!" A LOT!!!
*He is constantly amazing us with his memory! He has even started playing memory card games on the ipad and can do them so quickly!
*We got him a new bike with pedals, but he isn't very interested in it just yet!
*We put him on skies for the first time and he did great! He's not quite ready to bomb down the mountain, but it was a good start!

Here is our boy at 31 months! I could just eat him up!

First Day of Preschool

Our big boy started preschool Tuesday and Thursday from 9-12,  and I am happy to report that he loves it! He did cry a little on the first day that I dropped him off (believe me I cried more), but by the second day there were no tears and he even told me on the way home "Mama, I wuv school!".  I had been thinking about finding a school for him in the fall and started looking around Sonoma for a good fit for him. Since we moved from Aptos it has really just been Ford and I no friends for him or me. He loves to be around other kids, and I was starting to feel the weight of no outlet for myself. I knew he would love it, and I knew a few hours to myself twice a week would give me some freedom and some time to myself. I visited a few schools that I just didn't get a good feeling about, and then I visited The Little School and I loved it! The lady who owns and runs the school is named Sonja, and the moment I met her I could tell that she was so warm and loved what she does! I told her I was interested in starting Ford in the fall and wanted to get on the waiting list. She told me that there was actually and opening and Ford could start the 1st of February! My immediate thought was yikes I'm not ready!!! After talking it over with Erik and A LOT of anxiety with some guilt thrown in the mix, I prayed about it and decided we were both ready!!! So on Monday night I was packing his lunch and I was having so much anxiety and guilt that school wasn't the right decision. We make a big sacrifice so I can stay home and raise Ford, and he is only little for such a tiny amount of time was all that was going through my mind.  I had so much trouble sleeping dreading dropping him off in the morning. I just wasn't feeling right about my decision. Around 3 am Ford woke up crying with a fever, coughing and a stuffy nose. I finally got him back to sleep, and in the morning he wasn't any better so I called the school and told them he wouldn't be there. On Thursday he still wasn' t well enough to go to school, so I pushed his first day back to the following Tuesday. By the following Monday night I had no anxiety about sending him to school on Tuesday, and felt totally confident in my decision. I was so grateful that God had given me an extra week to ease my anxiety, and to know that I was making the right decision for Ford and me. Now, I am well aware that this only something that happens with a first child, but he is my baby and always will be! We are about a month into preschool, and he gets so excited to see his teachers and friends! He walks right into his classroom, and sometimes I even have to chase him down to get a hug goodbye! I am loving having some free time too! I get so excited to go and pick him up and hear about his day! We are a happy Mama and happy boy! We are blessed!

Here he is all ready for his first day!

Rainy Days!

We have had A LOT of rain the past few days and all Ford has wanted to do is play in the water! He was soaking wet with a few inches of water inside his boots, but he didn't care! He is all boy all of the time!

Well with moving and Christmas I have gotten really behind on the blog so this monthly update will have 29 months and 30 months combined! We just love this age and are having so much fun with our sweet boy! Ford is just full of personality and is almost always happy! He is still a total Mama's boy and I love it! Here are some facts about Ford at 29 and 30 months!

*He loved Christmas this year and would say "Merry Tis-mas", and after Christmas I would tell him to say Happy New Year, and he would say "Buzz Yight Year!!".
*He is hilarious and love to make us laugh! I don't think Erik and I have ever laughed more in our life!
*He is so sweet and kind to other little kids. Other moms are always telling me what a good sharer he is. He makes his mama proud!
*He is definitely in the "I do it myself" and "my turn" phase! Holy moly you have no idea how many times I hear that in a day!
*He says peak-a-poo instead of boo!
*He says that Lightning McQeen says "Pa-Chow"!
*He calls a heliocopter a "ha do do"!
*He says "sits sit" for fix it!
*He says "I dont queso" for I don't think so!
*He loves animals and pretending to be animals especially rhinos, lions and dragons!
*He loves to tell me he "needs" things. Like "I need candy in my hand"!
*He can't say L's so he still says "ye-yo", "gwubbs" and "bwanket"!
*He loves to cheers! Anytime he sees two things that are alike he wants to cheers them!
*He loves Superman and tells me he has superpowers!
*He has mastered riding his Strider and can go so fast!
*He is very attached to his blanket that he calls his "night night". He loves to rub the corners between his fingers when he falls asleep!
*He tells us his name if Ford Olson and he is from California. He also knows that I am Lyndsey Olson and Dada is Erik Olson!
*We started to play hide-and-go-seek with him recently and Erik and I laughed until we cried! At first we would help him hide and then we would say ready or not here we come! He would immediately shout or jump out and say "I right here!". Eventually he caught on and started to stay hidden, but he only counts to 3 before he shouts some version of ready or not here I come!
